CE 601.3

Philosophy of Christian Education

3.0 Credit Hours

This course is designed to communicate discipleship in the home, in the church, and in the school. A philosophy, a history, and technique are covered using both theoretical and practical approaches to Christian Education. This course will cover everything from a church nursery, Sunday School, Junior Church, and mid-week children’s program to the local church Christian school and the role of the local church in the life of home schooling. Everything from writing curriculum to effective communication is covered.

Church History I

3.0 Credit Hours

A survey of the history and development of Christendom’s denominations with comparisons to New Testament church history and doctrine. This course will cover from the New Testament to the Reformation. Same as BI 662.4.

CE 604.3

Church History II

3.0 Credit Hours

A survey of the history and development of Christendom’s denominations with comparisons to New Testament church history and doctrine. This course will cover from the Reformation to modern times.

CE 605.3

Christian Education of Adults

3.0 Credit Hours

The characteristics and educational needs of adults are studied, including methods for instruction, discipling, and spiritual growth of adult Christians in the local church.

CE 610.3

History of Fundamentalism

3.0 Credit Hours

History of Fundamentalism studies the history of the movement called Fundamentalism and the history of independent Baptist churches and associations. This course covers approximately 1875 A.D. to the present and focuses primarily on the development and distinctives of various fundamental Baptist groups.

ED 108.2

Methods of Teaching Arts and Crafts

2.0 Credit Hours

Designed to give practical ideas on the use of arts and crafts in the local church. This includes Christian school, Vacation Bible School, home Bible clubs, camp crafts, etc. A supply fee is required. Same as CE 308.2.

ED 201.3

Education of the Child

3.0 Credit Hours

An investigation of the characteristics of the child, with an emphasis on materials, methods, and agencies which can be used by churches to lead the child to salvation and spiritual development. Mention is made of the home schooling of children. Same as CE 301.3.

ED 202.2

Teaching Language Arts

2.0 Credit Hours

A study of methods used in teaching grammar, spelling, and handwriting. Ways to develop good listeners and creative writers will be considered.

ED 203.2

Teaching Bible

2.0 Credit Hours

A course designed to prepare the prospective teacher with techniques and materials to teach the Bible to children. Same as CE 203.2.

ED 204.2

Teaching Social Studies

2.0 Credit Hours

A course designed to make prospective teachers aware of techniques and materials for teaching history and geography.
