Orchestration

2.0 Credit Hours

Band and orchestral instruments, their ranges, technical and sonorous advantages and limitations, transpositions and place in the score. Applicable readings, including copyright laws. Extensive practice in arranging techniques. Pre-requisite: MU 112.3.

Piano Lessons

1.0 Credit Hour

Private or semi-private instruction is given to each student to develop proper piano technique, practice procedures, and musicality for the performing of classical compositions, gospel song and hymn arrangements; and to learn the basic fundamentals of congregational hymn playing. Private Lesson fee required.

Song Leading and Church Music Administration

3.0 Credit Hours

A study of the development of an individual style that encourages enthusiasm and strong singing from the congregation, the study of traditional conducting patterns, the choosing of hymns and gospel songs for evangelistic services, handling of special techniques, and platform etiquette. A study of the philosophy, organization, leadership, and resources for using music in the ministry of the local church. Emphasis on criteria for leadership, congregational singing, copyright law, service planning, vocal and instrumental music (solo/ensemble), keyboard instruments, recruitment, and music library organization.

Personal Evangelism

1.0 Credit Hour

The Gospel is clearly defined, and methods of personally winning souls to Christ, baptizing them, and discipling them in the local church are taught.

The Preacher and His Ministry 1A

0.5 Credit Hour

The Preacher and His Ministry course is designed to deal with contemporary issues, ministerial ethics, practical problems in the ministry, and positive steps in building sound, fundamental Baptist churches. The various gifts mentioned in Ephesians 4 are emphasized, with a strong admonition to utilize those gifts in a local New Testament church. Two Preacher and His Ministry courses are taught each year on a four-year cycle. Therefore, a student will not necessarily take them in numerical order. Every male student is required to take the particular Preacher and His Ministry course offered each semester he is enrolled in Ambassador Baptist College.
