Greek Exegesis I

3.0 Credit Hours

A study of the principal steps in the exegesis process with practical application to the texts of various New Testament books. Students will continue to translate portions of the Greek New Testament and will learn to apply the background, context, and word meanings in order to conclude with Biblical application. Pre-requisite: BI 316.3 or equivalent.

A study of the basic principles of the alphabet, vocabulary, and grammar of Biblical Hebrew. Selected passages from the Hebrew Bible are translated and analyzed. Pre-requisite BI 215.3 and 216.3 or equivalent or permission of instructor.

3.0 Credit Hours

A study of the basic principles of the alphabet, vocabulary, and grammar of Biblical Hebrew. Selected passages from the Hebrew Bible are translated and analyzed. Pre-requisite BI 215.3 and 216.3 or equivalent or permission of instructor.

BI 601.2

Romans

2.0 Credit Hours

A systematic exposition of this doctrinal epistle, emphasizing Christ’s completed work for the sinner and saint, as well as its practical application in the life of the believer. Pre-requisite BI 303.3 or BI 503.3.

BI 603.3

Daniel and Revelation

3.0 Credit Hours

An analysis of these books outlining the main peaks of Biblical prophecy observed from the dispensational, pretribulational, premillennial position. The prophetic unity and the distinctives of Israel and the church are noted.

BI 606.2

Apologetics

2.0 Credit Hours

A defense of historical Christianity as stated in the Scriptures. Christianity is defended against various “-isms” that have been its enemies, and these false views are refuted from the Bible. Among those systems studied are evolution, atheism, and humanism.

BI 608.2

Ecclesiology

2.0 Credit Hours

A study of the Biblical doctrine of the church from the dispensational Baptist viewpoint. Attention is given to the local church: its functions, organization, officers, and government.

BI 609.2

Pneumatology

2.0 Credit Hours

A systematic study of the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Attention is given to the fullness of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and the work of the Holy Spirit today.

BI 611.2

Cults

2.0 Credit Hours

An elective study of heretical groups that consider themselves “Christian” while denying certain cardinal doctrines of the faith. Their distinctive views will be noted and refuted from Scripture. Cults to be considered include Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh-day Adventism, Christian Science, and others.
