REQUEST INFO

Dear Friend,

Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things” (KJV).

For the past thirty-two years, Ambassador Baptist College has focused on training preachers and full-time Christian workers to spread the Gospel. Our mission is more distinctive today than ever. There is a growing number of churches in the United States with empty pulpits, our country is growing in its secularization, and missionaries are coming off the field and more are needed to replace them.

As we began the 2021-22 school year, we welcomed students from 30 states and four foreign countries. Our students are serving in twenty-one independent Baptist churches in the area and are fulfilling a variety of ministry roles. Prospective students continue to visit the campus indicating their desire to serve the Lord in full-time Christian ministry. The Lord has blessed our college family with good health this fall, and I am so grateful for what God is doing at Ambassador.

A Little College History

When Dr. Ron Comfort started the school in 1989, churches and laymen combined their resources and gave more than $400,000 to open the doors of the college. This allowed the college to hire full-time faculty, rent a facility, and purchase modular housing for dormitories.

After seven years, the Lord allowed the college to purchase a vacated public school campus for $150,000 in Lattimore, NC. However, adjacent properties had to be purchased to provide space for dormitories and the campus needed much renovation. At the end of the move, the college spent more than $1.8 million to make the move from Shelby to Lattimore.

After moving to Lattimore, the college constructed its first set of permanent dormitories. Three dormitories were constructed for $1.4 million. The college raised the money and paid cash for the project so it would not incur further indebtedness. A few years later, churches and friends helped the college build two more dormitories for $1.5 million.

By 2007, the college was able to purchase and renovate a historic building in the town to provide a student center and bookstore for the students.  This $400,000 project resulted in the Alumni Commons and the Higher Grounds coffee shop. Students have spent many hours studying and fellowshipping in this facility. Without the help of God’s people, we couldn’t have done it.

A Miracle Takes Place

In 2009, I became the president of ABC. Having seen the early days of the college, I was well taught in its philosophy, and I committed myself to preserve our distinctives. One of my first goals was to eliminate the college’s indebtedness to strengthen their financial position. With the indebtedness being close to $1 million, nothing short of a miracle was needed.

That miracle began in the summer of 2014 when an individual left the college $500,000 in her will. She invested her life in the children’s ministry of her local church and wanted to invest in  training for the Lord’s work. Shortly thereafter, a foundation offered the college $250,000 if it could raise $183,000 by the end of the year to pay off the mortgage. On December 29, 2014, God provided the last $20,000 needed to meet the goal. In March of 2015, our founder, Ron Comfort, burned the $933,000 mortgage note. I share these milestones with you to show you that we could not do the work without the prayers and support of God’s people.

2021 EOY Campaign

As we approach the end of this year, we seek to raise $125,000 for the general needs of the college. Rising inflation has increased our expenses in a year when we did not increase our tuition or room and board charges. The college also needs to purchase a 15-passenger Ford Transit to replace an aging vehicle in our fleet. This vehicle will primarily be used to transport ministry teams to local churches to provide music and preaching.

ABC and its students do not receive any government aid or funding to maintain its independence and ability to control its programs. We depend upon the financial support of God’s people. All gifts for the EOY campaign are tax-deductible.

The Ambassador Endowment

In October of 2021, the Lord did another miracle by providing a $100,000 gift to start the Ambassador Endowment. The endowment has been established for the sole purpose of funding student scholarships until Jesus returns. Every year, the interest earnings will be used to fund scholarships for those preparing for the ministry. Will you pray about partnering with us in the Ambassador Endowment to provide student aid to worthy individuals for years to come?

A Closing Word

As you celebrate the hope and the joy that the birth of Christ brings, please remember to pray for Ambassador Baptist College. We are looking forward to another year of training God’s servants for God’s service. With your help, we want to see more “beautiful feet” spreading the Gospel around the globe.

An ambassador for Christ,
