What do students, teachers, and staff members do over summer break? If you think they do nothing, then think again! Admittedly, the school year is busy, but the summer break is a different kind of busy. Take a few moments to see how our college family is serving the Lord over the next few weeks.
After graduation, Dr. Tom Ashley led a group of students to help ABC graduates Matt and Naomi Shields in the country of Aruba. During their weeklong trip, the students experienced missionary life firsthand, ministered in several capacities, and saw the challenges of church planting in the country. Several of our students will be serving in missionary internships around the globe over the summer break.
Several students enrolled in summer school classes immediately after graduation. These classes are intensive modules of 6-8 hours a day and last 5-7 days. Projects and papers must be submitted to the teacher by a specific deadline that is set by the teacher. By taking summer school classes, students can shave some time off a busy class load during the school year.
When the students are gone, that is the time to do repairs and to freshen up the campus. Facilities Manager Glenn Haines has his crew working on several projects that are sure to put a smile on the faces of everyone when they return.
These projects include:
Painting all the interior of Lasley Hall
Remodeling a house to be used as a men’s dorm
Landscaping improvements around the dorms and main campus
Preparation for the installation of a new mural in the Tonya Love Dining Common
