Welcome to Myron and Mary McIntyre

Updated: Aug 11

One of the distinctives of Ambassador is having faculty members who are seasoned in the ministry teaching students in the classroom. In many settings, teachers with academic credentials but little ministry experience are teaching the next generation of preachers and Christian workers. Since our beginning, we have seen the value and importance of a faculty with many years of ministry experience.

We are happy to welcome Dr. Myron McIntyre and his wife Mary to our faculty for the 2025-26 school year. The McIntyres served the Lord at Faith Independent Baptist Church in McDonough, GA for almost 30 years. Dr. McIntyre will be teaching Bible and practical ministry classes. Mrs. McIntyre will be teaching speech.

Q & A with Dr. McIntyre

Q: How old were you when you surrendered for the ministry?

A: I knew from a young age that God was directing me to a life of Gospel ministry.  I do not have the testimony of one that endured a huge struggle in "surrendering" to God's call upon his life.  My desire from an early age was to follow the Lord's will.  When I knew God was leading me to preach and teach the Word of God and minister to others, the idea of surrendering was not a big problem. (I thank God for that!)  The passion that He placed within me was to spend my life serving Him in Christian service.  There were times in my life growing up that God would use various people and things to confirm His direction for my life.  Interestingly enough, I recently came across a notation in one of my old Bibles that said:  "...after Ron Comfort's sermon, [I] felt peace and confirmation from the Lord about my call to preach."  God has now brought my wife and me to the school that Dr. Ron Comfort started.  God works in interesting ways!

Q: What was your hardest class in college and why?

A: I was required to take a semester of German in grad school and pass a basic reading/translating proficiency test.  (I was told that this was because some of the literature had originally been written in German.)  The Lord — and a gracious teacher — helped me pass!  German was just not my thing!  (By the way, most all of the literature written in German had already been translated into English!  Oh well...  As they say, it built character! 🙂)

Q: What is one of your favorite memories of ministry?

A: Ministry is great!  How can you narrow it down to one memory?  The opportunity to baptize each of my three children - after they got saved - is a wonderful memory.  The memory of the time spent as a family ministering together in local church work is a highlight.   Discipling/teaching new converts has to go on the list of great memories.  The memories of opportunities to encourage the "veteran" saints and other ministry servants to stay faithful are special.  Narrowing it down to my all-time favorite ministry memory, however, I would have to say....

Whoops!  I've already gone over the allotted space for this answer!

Q: Coke or Pepsi?

A: As long as it's the diet version, either one is fine with me.  (Diet Pepsi does seem to have a little more "kick," however. Maybe that's what I will need for my 7:00 a.m. Philosophy of Christian Education class!)

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

A: Growing up in the Bay Area of California, I was a fan of the Oakland A's (professional baseball), Oakland Raiders (professional football), Golden State Warriors (professional basketball), and the Stanford Cardinal (college).  Since I lived and pastored in Georgia for almost three decades, the Atlanta Braves have been my primary team of interest most recently.

Q & A with Mrs. McIntyre

Q: How did you meet your husband?

A: I was taking graduate courses during the summer at the university we both attended. (During the school year, I was teaching at a Christian school in another state, so summer was when I was able to take these courses.) He was on staff there, working in the library while completing his PhD. I was looking for a resource in the library and he was staff on duty at that time of day and ended up fielding my question. The class I was taking was a two-week class, and our first date was for breakfast on Saturday morning of the first week (at 6 a.m.)! During the second week we interacted in some way pretty much daily. After I returned home, we started writing letters since texting didn't exist and long-distance phone calls were costly. There is much more to the story, but that was the beginning.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?

A: Reading a well-written book.

Q: What is your favorite dessert?

A: Either carrot cake (the real thing with homemade cream cheese frosting), or cheesecake.
